IFFCO Kandla wins FAI Best Technical Innovation award 2014-15

IFFCO Kandla has won FAI best Technical Innovation award on "Effective Utilization of Heat energy from return chilling water of Air Handling Unit (AHU) to heat Ammonia for NPK-I plant by eliminating steam and avoiding the compressor operation for four central Air conditioning Units" for the year 2014-15. The award was received by Shri S R Kushwaha, Sr. General Manager,IFFCO Kandla from Shri Ananth Kumar, Hon'ble cabinet minister for Chemical & Fertilizer and Shri Hansraj Ahir, Hon'ble minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizer at the 51st Annual Seminar of Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) , New Delhi held during 2 - 4th Dec-2015 . Shri Sukesh Mangal who had given the suggestion for this technical innovation was also present to receive the award. The modification resulted in annual monetary saving of Rs. 6.19 crore by saving electrical energy and steam for K-I plant. However, for the K-II plant the steam saving was done through the ammonia refrigeration system loop harnessing the heat of compression of ammonia which gave a saving of Rs. 2.74 crore in the previous year. This has now been merged with the existing central AC units and gives same saving. Thus total saving is Rs. 8.93 crore.

This is the second consecutive time IFFCO Kandla is winning FAI technical Innovation Award which is a record for a pure complex fertiliser industry.
