
17th September; 2020; New Delhi: World’s biggest processed fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO distributed more than 1 lakh vegetable seed packets to farmers and trained more than 40,000 women farmers in a nationwide campaign in association with ICAR to commemorate the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the campaign called as PoshanAbhiyan-2020.
The inaugural event of the Poshan Abhiyan-2020 & Farmer Women Training campaign was held in New Delhi in Krishi Bhawan in the presence of Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. This campaign was launched in association with agri-research body ICAR and Kisan Vigyan Kendras. Shri Tomar inaugurated the event & addressed the women farmers at 714 KVKs though video conference connected by Department of Agriculture Research and Extension. Dr. U S Awasthi, MD, IFFCO, Mr. Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director was also present along with senior scientists & representatives from ICAR.
Union agriculture minister Sh. Tomar lauded the efforts of IFFCO and stated that the cooperative have always came forward for the service of farmers and contributed in agricultural growth of country.
All state offices of IFFCO actively participated in this event and distributed at least 100 packets of vegetable seeds to 1 lakh farmers across the country. Each seed packet contained the seeds of 5 nutritious vegetables of the season including Carrot, Reddish, Spinach, Fenugreek (Methi).

This distribution of nutritious vegetable seeds to farmers will certainly help them to look towards alternative of cash crops also. This is somehow an added value for them.
